Step 2: Drinks Menu

Once seated in your booth or table, take some time to peruse through their drinks menu that features an extensive selection of authentic margaritas and other popular cocktails such as palomas and micheladas. If alcohol isn’t your thing, they also have non-alcoholic options available like aguas frescas.

The next step is ordering appetizers. It’s always best to start small before indulging yourself fully in entrĂ©es later on. We recommend going for something sharable like guacamole or queso fundido made from melted cheese served bubbling hot accompanied by tortilla chips.

PRO TIP – Their house salsa is so good; it would be considered illegal NOT TO indulge!

Step 4: Entrées (Main Course)

Now comes one of the most important steps – main course! Many items are featured including tacos filled with short rib slow-cooked in beer or carnitas succulent braised pork shoulder & more traditional others bursting through flavorful fixings Guajillo short rib barbacoa alongside cornbread pudding sides might enhance heartiness too! Pair whichever entree delights taste-buds expertly paired via friendly servers’ recommendations complement dishes very well!

Don’t worry if you prefer vegetarian options either because our personal favorite, a vegetarian item on the menu called ‘La Bomba’ (yes, that’s pronounced like in Spanish) features roasted plantains, seasonal veggies and oh-so flavorful spiced rice.

Step 5: Dessert

Desserts at Mission Mexican Restaurant are never an afterthought! The Churros with chocolate sauce & Tres-Leches made from triple-layered cake w/ sweet cream milk filling served alongside fresh strawberries have often left patrons speechless.

Discover the history and heritage of The Mission Mexican Restaurant

The Mission Mexican Restaurant is one of the most popular Mexican food restaurants in San Diego, California. This restaurant has gained a lot of popularity over the years for its delicious and authentic dishes that are made using traditional recipes.

However, what makes The Mission stand out from other Mexican restaurants in the area is its rich history and heritage that dates all the way back to 1913 when it was first established as La Casa de Bandini by founder Juan Bandini.

Originally located in Old Town San Diego, La Casa de Bandini quickly became known for its lively atmosphere and vibrant décor which featured bright colors, intricate murals, and lush gardens filled with exotic plants. It was considered the premier dining destination in San Diego and hosted many notable visitors including President Roosevelt during his visit to California in 1903.

In 1989 after several ownership changes throughout its 76-year existence, La Casa de Bandini closed down leaving behind an empty shell of what once was a bustling spectacle of culinary delights. However; only three years later Rick Fletcher had a vision of bringing back life into this historical establishment reconfiguring it to become “The Mission Cafe.” The new owners went above and beyond & not just restored “what used to be”, they managed miracles like opening up exterior windows on original brick walls so guests can enjoy watching passers-by while sipping margaritas!

The success attained through their endless passion led them two additional locations: North Park (2008) then Oceanside (2012), where each location maintains rustic authenticity yet intrinsic differences matched by their respected communities needs/wants.

Today, more than ever before-The Mission strives even harder at providing exemplary services starting from fresh-made tortillas served complimentary upon arrival followed stellar recommendations from servers highly knowledgeable about every dish placed before diners presenting options catering specific dietary restrictions/preferences without compromising quality/taste/over-all enjoyment!

So come experience firsthand how this historic establishment continues weaving charm & heritage with unprecedented quality food and amazing experiences. The Mission’s determination to maintain consistency in recipes, traditions while adding a modern twist continues pushing them forward as one of the most prominent Mexican Restaurants of current times!
